Morning Has Broken

Artist Statement: Morning Has Broken is a painting of the Llano River at sunrise after a large storm moved through. The family who owned the land where I painted my plein air study for this larger studio painting generously shared their time and property before leaving to teach Sunday school. In the early light of a Sunday morning I was reminded of our community of faith, the glory of God, and the power of nature. I learned of the hard work it takes to care for property this vast near the ever changing river. This family is committed to properly caring for the river, the land, and the wildlife there. I am so grateful they shared the splendors of that morning with me.
