Fog Photograph |
Artist Statement: Early morning, just as the sun was rising, I set out with my camera to see what I could see. Though the image is in color, almost all color was washed away in mist. Fresh, clean, like a blank page ready to be filled with the new day. Bio: While photography has never been my medium of choice, it has woven itself into my life and my art since the beginning. I joined the Navy at 19 years of age, thinking I could study for the rank of Illustrator Draftsman, only to discover (in Boot Camp, after-the-fact) that the rate was closed to women. I could, however, go to PH School and learn to become a photographer. This I did, and the knowledge I gained in those early years has been a blessing in my later work. I’ve used everything from a Speed Graphic, to Yashica, Leica, Olympus, and now my iPhone. And then of course, there’s Photoshop for aftereffects.
