Community of Christ

Egg tempera
48"x48"

Artist Statement: To Serve and Be Healed - it begins with no judgment. Our world still looks upon the prisoner, crippled, drunk, prostitute, poor, or sick as somehow not complete. This can be a problem in the way of healing. I used to hear my aunt say, '"When one falls we all fall" We are beginning to see when one suffers we all suffer. The idea we are each other in every aspect spread out through time and space is a great meditation. Imagine if you could really feel and identify with each of these characters. Peace between us.

Bio: Mary Jane Miller is a Byzantine-style iconographer living in Mexico. Born in N.Y 1954. Her collections are contemporary, with a proficient command of egg tempera for three decades. Published books: In Light of Women, Life in Christ, Iconography Revealed, Meditation and Iconography, Embossing Metal, and The Mary Collection. She teaches 5-day workshops in retreat centers, monastic communities and church parishes. Website: www.millericons.com
