Artist Statement: From John O'Donohue To Bless the Space Between Us
A Morning Offering
I place on the altar of dawn:
The quiet loyalty of breath,
The tent of thought where I shelter,
Waves of desire I am shore to
And all beauty drawn to the eye
Sunrise on the beach is such a beautiful experience...witnessing the vastness of the ocean and the sun's rays illuminating the waves, the sand dunes, and the columns of clouds blowing by. The dunes protect us, but change with storms and even the everyday winds. As I created the plein air study for this piece and later the larger painting in my studio, I was reminded how all the elements of that morning were parts of the dance, the rhythm of nature, the beauty of dawn.
