On the first Sunday after the Epiphany, we remember Jesus' baptism in the River Jordan. Each of the four Gospels tells of Jesus' baptism and all four mention the sign of a dove as a sign of The Holy Spirit empowering Jesus for ministry. In Hymn 297 from Hymnal 1982 we find the words,

Descend, O Spirit, purging flame,
brand us this day with Jesus Name!
Confirm our faith, consume our doubt;
Sign us as Christ’s within, without.
