O heavenly Word, eternal Light,
begotten of the Father’s might,
who in these latter days was born
for blessing to a world forlorn.

Bell writes, "For me, light has always been an important aspect of the Advent season. As a child, we gathered around the lit Advent wreath and sang songs of the Christmas season. Following a German tradition, a candle was lit in our window patiently waiting the coming of Jesus."

The words to this hymn were translated into English by John Mason Neale and Edward Caswell. The hymn captures the importance of light during the Christmas season and how we are all waiting for the light of the world. To God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit ever One, praise, honor, might, and glory be from age to age eternally.

For this arrangement, Bell chose to make an Advent wreath with a twist. She broke the wreath up into three individual wreaths to symbolize the Trinity. Each wreath was composed of a single color of the advent season, and a candle is lit in each wreath awaiting the coming of Christ.

O heavenly Word, Eternal Light, is hymn 64 in the The Hymnal 1982
