The usual illustration of this passage involves protecting arms encircling the child. Here is a very different interpretion of the act of blessing. Jesus's blessing liberates the child, whose ecstatic response is like taking flight, soaring confidently.
Casts from the same mould have been used as gifts by Presiding Bishop Frank Griswold to the Patriarchs of Moscow and Turkey and to the Pope.
