Many people consider Christmas lights tacky, but I enjoy their cheerful presence on a dark night. As daylight gets shorter and the oppressive winter closes in, a brightly decorated house defies the cold darkness of the inevitable winter. It reminds me of how the Word of God is hope in a hopeless world - a bright light in a dark world. In addition to being documents of an American town, my pictures are also formal studies of light, space, color, and the intrigue of the timed exposure. |
