The starkness of the shapes and the
emotive colours represent the thorns and shed blood of Good Friday,
creating waves of emotions difficult to articulate. It is a scene
of simplicity because the significance of the crucifixion is so profound.
Vanessa Wells lives in Toronto, Canada where she attends St. Clement’s
Anglican Church. She received her Master of Theological Studies degree
this year and teaches sociology and religion at a private Christian
school. This is the first year she has ventured into both colour
and digital photography; her usual forum is black and white film
with old cameras, often architectural in subject matter.
