The cross symbolizes the primary relationship between the earth and celestial. It is the conjunction of opposites. Placed in the mystic center of the cosmos, it is the bridge by means of which the soul may reach God.

This image is inspired by the combination of forms and colors of the Variegated Iris leaves and deep purple of the Wandering Jew plants in my garden. All of my work originates in my garden where I meditate and search for the essence of each natural form that I photograph. This current work reflects an integration of the things I feel most passionate about: the planting and nurturing of growing things, finding beauty in the essence of these things, photographing them, and organizing these images into a new structure, the cross.

A technical note: the image you see is called a glicée print and is the result of thousands of little beads of ink sprayed onto the paper to reproduce most accurately the color of the original photography.
