Crucifixion

Crucifixion

watercolor

2000

The whole of the background surrounding the figure of Christ is written in gold with the words from the Gospels concerning the Crucifixion. Along the arms are the last words of Christ. The work is meant to be viewed both from a distance and from close up. It is meant to be seen on several levels. The Cross is the strength of the Church. The triumvirate parts represent the Trinity. The agony of Christ, His Death and Resurrection are our hope and our salvation. The words surrounding the Cross reveal His pain and triumph, our pain and triumph.
