Teresa of Avila was the first female to be named Doctor
of the Church. She was a powerful influence in the early
church at a time when it was dominated by men. She was
a writer, a theologian, a musician, and a visionary.
I thought she would be appropriate for day 3 to help
celebrate the anniversary of the ordination of women.
Judy King is an artist working in the southwestern
santero (saint maker) tradition, designing saints,
angels and nativities. Her
polymer clay creations are whimsical and
exuberant reflections of the sacred narratives
that inspire them. Her artistic creations are displayed
in churches throughout the United States, and in private
collections internationally.
