Pentecost is a very special event in my home parish. Last year we hosted a Pentecost Vigil for the community and other Episcopal churches in the area. It was a beautiful night, and the anticipation of the coming of the Spirit was palpable. I hoped to create an image for the Vigil program that would convey the awe and majesty of the Spirit's descent into our world of candlelight, red linen and prayer. The Vigil is planned again for this year, and I hope it will become a tradition at Emmanuel.
