Judith F. McManis
Origami doves and flames invaded St.
John's at Pentecost, spanning the large
nave, diagonally suspended from black
nylon cable so as to appear to float.
The flames hung directly over the center
aisle, almost touching the heads of
those walking beneath. Any soft movement
of air (Spirit?) caused them to move.
They remained in place until All Saints
when they were 'parted out' to those who
were remembering anyone absent from them
–
whether by death, distance or
circumstance. They were sent all over
the world. Who would have known how
empowered some bits of paper could
become, except when inspired by the Holy
Spirit?
