As an artist and a gardener, my connection to the Spirit
is strengthened by working directly with the earth. Cycles
of growth and decay, heat and cold, light and dark remind
me daily of the Creator’s plan for harmony in the
natural world. The pattern of life within the unpredictable
beat of that rhythm forces me to trust in the ultimate
wisdom of God’s creation.
In my work, layers of fabrics and fibers woven together
focus on the delicate balance inherent in these cycles.
Visually, emphasis shifts back and forth between linear
shapes formed by the woven structure and irregular shapes
created by the coloration and embellishment of the surface.
This shifting reflects the balance that we as humans try
to achieve pursuing spiritual growth amid the distractions
of the material world.
