Window Pains, There is Light in the Dark
by Camilla Brunschwyler Armstrong
(Oil on linen, 1998, 48” x 36”)
St. John’s Episcopal Church – Montgomery, AL

This piece is highly symbolic for me, especially the images of the lilies, blooming in the dark (above ground) while sending deep roots underground into the light symbolizing the interior spiritual growth that occurs, sometimes when things seem dark or confusing. All the other imagery has special meaning. The Light of Christ shed abroad.
