Based on a peace meditation by
Marianne Williamson, the viewer is invited to envision the Israeli (on the left)
with light coming from the core of her being. The same process is followed with
the Palestinian (on the right). We are invited, then, to beam forth our own
light so that theirs grows and merges into the Source of all Being through whom
we all are one. It was a surprise to me as I painted their ever brighter auras
to see them converge at shoulder level--suggesting that women bear a special
responsibility in peacemaking. Surely the Prince of Peace, the Light of the
Whole World, surrounds these women and their sisters with deep compassion as
they lean into greater harmony. At the base of the painting is the word “peace”
in Aramaic—the language Jesus spoke. |
