In one of my icons of women on the Episcopal calendar, Evelyn Underhill brings us to another aspect of prayer: self-examination and confession. Yet the love in her eyes and the blessing of her hand, as much as the words she speaks, remind us that this is one part of an on-going relationship–a relationship in which God is the one who is actually doing the work.
