Called Forth

Oil and acrylic

Artist Statement: Anything and everything of enduring and eternal value, be it substantial or abstract, is called forth out of The Enduring and Eternal Creator Son of God. As He Himself is the Word, so did He, as Architect and Builder of all universes, speak "Let there be…" and it was good.

The image I have painted is a fictitious and fantasized nanosecond of that third day of Creation. But its meditation unfolds not only inferences of clear waters, and perfect vegetation, but layers and levels of the Word calling forth Creation, and the Word made flesh subjected to that Creation. The facts and reality of His Work constrains me to a high esteem for what is His: "for of Him, and through Him, and to Him are
all things…" (Romans 11:36)

Bio: When I am not working on a private commission, I produce 2- and 3-D work, using a broad range of mediums, surfaces and tools. Most recently, I've taken up painting on paper and canvas, approaching the blank space without a pre-conceived idea of its outcome - admittedly a challenge from my foundation and experience as a graphic illustrator/lettering artist.

An active member of the Southern California Society for Calligraphy, I have exhibited my mostly scripture-centered artwork at Chapman University, The Muzeo of Anaheim, Whittier Library, and various Orange County galleries and venues, as well as Portland OR, Metuchen NJ, and Clearwater FL.

I teach, demonstrate, facilitate and mentor calligraphy workshops in local schools, libraries, cultural centers, community youth facilities, and in my home studio.
