A Gift

Artist Statement: This day we noticed the magnolia flowers were in full bloom on Magnolia Lane. My wife and I could not help to pause on our walk, to observe the blossoms’ regal splendor in the glow of the early morning sunlight. I ask her to cup her hands around one of the flowers. This moment with the magnolia flower reminded us of the lines in a William Blake poem -

"To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower.
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour."

We were filled during this simple act with joy and peace. What a caring God, who reveals such beauty and love. Certainly as God’s children, we can learn to care and preserve this blessed planet and it’s people. As Christians we must try to do so. For me this image “A Gift” is symbolic of that challenge.
