ABOUT THOMAS FAULKNER
The Rev. Thomas Faulkner has
maintained a dual vocation as priest and sculptor since his
ordination in 1974. Prior to ordination he directed the
youth program for St. Ann’s Church in the
South Bronx; co-founded and directed Sanctuary, a
nationally recognized crisis counseling and drug education
program in Boston; and participated in Operation Crossroads
Africa in the Central African Republic. As a priest he
directed the peace and disarmament program for the Diocese
of New York in the 1980s; served on the Board of Bauen Art
Camp and now serves on the Board of the Episcopal Church and
Visual Arts (ECVA); and has served parishes in the Diocese
of New York as an interim pastor. He is currently Priest
Associate at St. James’, New York City.
As a sculptor, Tom has done installations throughout the
country at the Boston Architectural Center; St. Bede Abbey
in Peru, Illinois; and in New York City at the City Gallery,
Socrates Sculpture Park, The Sculpture Center, and Bryant
Park (Public Art Fund.) His work has been reviewed in major
art periodicals. He brings a deep awareness of the complex
interactions between faith and culture to his new Way of the
Cross project. He lives in New York City
with his wife Brenda Husson, also a priest, and their
young son Christopher. |
