Paula Wallace

From God's Hands

Artist Statement: As part of a series exploring the Creation with the Rev. David Gortner, I used the hands of working people to model the narratives. The grace and muscle of hands expresses the lovely, messy, and utterly expressive Divinity from which we are formed and in whose image we are made. More importantly, Christ continues to reveal Himself in those around us and in relationship with others. In relationship - in an act as simple as taking another's hand - we are privy to see in them and in ourselves the holiness from which we were born and in which are baptized.

Bio: Paula Wallace is an author and illustrator with a studio in the Hot Shops Art Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Wallace believes that beauty is necessary for a healthy heart and soul. The artist's job, to paraphrase the poet, Mary Oliver, is to "pay attention." Her paintings are exhibited in the US and Italy.
