Fog of War

Acrylic on birch panel
8 x 8 x 0.125 in - 2020

Artist Statement: I am troubled by the way the metaphor of war has wrapped itself around every aspect of our response to the covid-19 epidemic. I have more to say about that but will say it elsewhere. In regard to this painting, I simply want to recall the fog of war – how war clouds our vision in ways that amplify the damage, especially to the poor and dispossessed who are invariably the ones on the front lines.
