Grief in Pandemic Photograph |
Artist Statement: My wife, Victoria, and I began taking our morning walks in Savannah's cemeteries while sheltering in place. We almost always had them to ourselves. By May 2, when I took this photo, I had offered last rites via phone call and attended a funeral online with almost no one there. I put a mask on this statue in Bonaventure Cemetery to illustrate how our grief rituals were being shaped by the pandemic. Bio: The Rt. Rev.
