Artist Statement: This is a painting of a large tree that has been on my father’s farm for a very long time. In the midst of huge changes, I think of what nature witnesses and itself experiences. Many trees live much longer than humans, what is their witness to us, what witness of us do they lift to the Father? As caretakers of this beautiful earth, the majority of us have failed miserably. When you see an old majestic tree, does it remind one to take better care of the environment, to leave a blessing instead of a curse to those who follow behind. Bio: I have always been interested in art but didn’t start painting until 1995 while living in Clayton, NC where I begin taking art classes. |
