Artist Statement: This work is a cosmic environmentalist take on Rublev's original, where Christ is enthroned upon the cherubim. This version is inspired by Eucharistic Prayer C and the hymn text, "Angels help us to adore him; ye behold him face to face; sun and moon bow down before him, dwellers all in time and space" (Hymn 410). Images of earth, sun, moon, and the stars and planets are also linked with the ancient concepts of fire, water, earth and air. Bio: Tobias is retired from full-time parish ministry and serves as a supply priest in the Diocese of Maryland, as an associate at Church of the Advent, Baltimore.
