Artist Statement: Because of the digital revolution, learning to use technology as an artist is essential to my growth. I was encouraged to explore using my iPhone to create video by joining ECVA’s Spring course called Storytelling For Artists, Photography & Smartphone Short-film. It was helpful to see how others used time-based images to create effective communication with a spiritual trajectory. I plan to continue exploring integrating video in my artistic thinking. My son, Tom Bender, played his poetic piano composition to improve the mood. I gave photo credit for one shot to my husband and modeling credit to my daughter for the parting image expressing expansion. In this way, the video reflects my connection to my family when I am on beach walks.

Bio: Julie Christian Bender is a retired public school art teacher with a desire to learn, especially through visual Arts.
