Artist Statement: When I was a child, I used to check on a large rock that was next to a ditch in Montgomery, Alabama. It amazed me how it became smoother and smoother after months of rain and thunderstorms. That is how suffering has been in my life... sometimes a trickle, and sometimes a deluge. Sometimes I had a raincoat and sometimes I didn't. I don't want to admit it, but suffering molded me. I learned to look for where the love was, where the Christ eyes were, and what really mattered.
