We are all meant to be Mothers of God,
for God is always needing to be born. [Meister Eckhart]

Inspired by the insight of thirteenth-century Christian mystic Meister Eckhart (above), I chose to depict Mary with a mirrored face so that persons viewing this work might envision both self and other in the shared calling to bear Christ into the world. This work was constructed using commercial cotton fabrics and embellished with improvisational machine stitching, appliqué, couched metallic fibers, and a glass finding (mirror).
