TRINITY MEDITATION
Etching (black oil-based etching ink on Rives
BFK white paper with
red mulberry-bark paper overlay in chine colle process)
The images I use
range from abstract to narrative; and, my work finds inspiration from
esoteric areas including: mythology; spirituality; sacred geometry;
architecture; ancient history; and archeology. Photographic illusion,
reflections in glass, manipulation via color, and the balance of opposites
(light and shadow... line and angle... the visible and
not-so-visible) are integral in my work. Currently, my major concentration
has been in printmaking (etching that uses intaglio, aquatint, drypoint
and chine collé).
I frequently
gain inspiration also from chant: Gregorian; Tibetan Buddhist; Eastern
European; and, Bali Folk. I work in silence, yet play chants during the
meditations for my visual motivations.
