This image is a fragment from a classic icon of Christ's Decent into Hades, where He lifts Adam and Eve out of the darkness and invites them into his resurrection with Him. The icon illustrates the historical teaching of the resurrection event described in the bible.

The entire doctrine reminds me of how, through the essence of Christ's presence in our lives, any time and in any situation this kind of union and resurrection is available to us. Experienced in a larger context, the energy of Christ is present in all that we desire, achieve or witness.

We as humans are learning how our needs and desires are united in one another. Through my own experience and all I have learned form the saints, I have come to realize we cannot do anything alone with our own mind or willpower if it is separate from the source of divine being. As Christians we call on this divine being, Christ, to be present at any moment in our lives.
