Bread
Of Heaven My artistic translation of the theme shows bread like one might see at a Cursillo closing Eucharist - very casual, informal and inviting. The communion wafers are traditional symbols of the bread used at Eucharist. Wheat is an essential part of bread making. It naturally belongs with this theme. Grapes were added, not as an afterthought, but to represent the fullness of communion. Sea shells are representations of the water of baptism. I associate them with the sea and ocean which makes me feel God's presence in the grand scheme of things. I collect shells, even the broken ones, on my walks on the beach. There is no where else in this world that makes me feel the power and strength of God as much as the waves crashing on the beach and the sun rising on the horizon. curator's statement | list of artists
