Artist Statement: Biblical Birds is a series that explores the spaces between temporality and spirituality, between that which is passing and that which is lasting. The birds in this work stand in for man, as arbiters between the material and spiritual worlds. The abstracted botanical imagery and stitched twigs remind us of that which is fragile and we cannot hold on to. Scriptural passages in both English and Hebrew reference man’s efforts to understand and be guided through the present time with eternity in mind.
