Chapter: New York

Light #4

“Light #4” from Places of Light is the open door of the north aisle of Grace Church (my spiritual home for 20 years) at Tenth Street and Broadway in New York City. The massive, tall wooden door with metal reinforcements is slightly ajar, with light gently trickling into the dark French gothic church. The door is a powerful symbol in Christian faith. Jesus describes himself as a door: “I am the door; by me if any man shall enter in, he shall be saved.” (John 10:2)
