Kerri Jones

Cascadia

Fabric

Artist Statement: This piece was created to represent Cascadia, a personified spirit of the environmental ethos of the Pacific Northwest. The linear greens of the background represent the region’s ancient cathedral forests; the bright blue of her eyes reflect the aqua viva of pristine mountain lakes and sparkling rivers, the brown of her hair represent rich valley soils; the budding pink of the rhododendrons speak to nature’s sustaining cycle and the newness of life. The delicate green ribbon intertwined amidst the rose cane halo is meant to remind us of the sacred communion of the natural world with the transcendent realm.

Bio: Kerri Jones, a fabric mosaicist, is a native of the Pacific Northwest.
