Where the Eyes of Wisdom Meet

Soft Pastel 22"x28"

Artist Statement: In this pastel painting, “Where the Eyes of Wisdom Meet,” I am expressing that wisdom will need to take its place to see that damage is being done to our planet as we live from day to day. Until we gain this wisdom or willing sight, we could end up being too late. This piece reminds me of an old poem which I have to share. I thought of this throughout the painting.

No man is an island,
Entire of itself,
Every man is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thy friend's
Or of thine own were:
Any man's death diminishes me,
Because I am involved in mankind,
And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee.
~John Donne~

I believe it is God’s call to us to work to together, globally, in order to truly effect change in the care for our island home.

Bio: I am a graphic designer by trade who creates because of a passion to create. It is something in me that I just can’t put away. In my paintings, I search to express ideas and thoughts through a surrealistic style. The ideas and concepts are usually spiritual and philosophical. I mostly work in oil and pastel.
