“Grant O God, that we may follow the example of your faithful servant Barnabas, who, seeking not his own renown but the wellbeing of your Church, gave generously of his life and substance for the relief of the poor and the spread of the Gospel; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen."
Collect for the Feast of St. Barnabas June 11

This photograph of the Winged Wheel on the front of the Aumbry of my home parish, represents to me a symbol of the faithful servants who follow in the path of St. Barnabas. The Winged Wheel was hand carved by a faithful servant of the church, a skilled surgeon, who always stands ready to create or repair the fixtures within our 134 year old nave. The Aumbry was given in appreciation for yet another faithful servant, a priest, who served this church many times over in times of change. Both of these men are faithful and humble servants of God and his church. They are quiet inspirations to others, never seeking public recognition for their good work, but always open to the Holy Spirit working through them for the benefit of others. As I look at this each Sunday, I am always reminded of these two good men, and inspired, to give as they have given, quietly and generously. May we all be so blessed to find a St. Barnabas in our life and may we strive to be as faithful.
