Breast Biopsy

Artist Statement: The unexplained can strike at any time. I had no idea that over the past year cancer was slowly invading my breast; silent, secret, hidden. Ironic that I had just completed a year long state funded research project working with patients receiving chemotherapy. Now my colleagues would become my doctors. Three weeks into my diagnosis my family’s life has turned 180 degrees. In one week my breasts will be removed, and then a few weeks later my ovaries, forcing my body into early menopause. I hate lurking unknowns that surprise us unawares in the brightness of day.
