Artist Statement: One-of-a-kind print I created using one of my original etching plates. Face image is from the Stations of the Cross, VERONICA WIPES CHRIST’S FACE.

My zinc plate etchings are developed in nitric acid and hand-printed on a large Charles Brand floor press. Photography is vital to my work in the sense that my narratives are based on my own photographs and those from the digital archives of universities, libraries, and historical societies. After locating a scene to etch, I first create two to five original drawings from the photograph and then recreate it onto the prepared etching plate. I strive to uncover extraordinary occurrences within everyday scenes involving architecture, archaeology, photojournalism, comparative religion, or history.
