Artist Statement: A destitute man reverting to the fetal position for comfort.

Themes for my art have been both Biblical and Social issues- "The Uprooted" and "Homeless." Coming from an Armenian heritage I empathize with those going through genocides as depicted in Uprooted series of 32 paintings. My parents were survivors of the First Genocide of the 20th Century. Going to my studio in NYC I witnessed many Homeless - men, women and children of all ages. I did a series of 18 paintings on this theme showing their plight. I myself am a refugee from Jerusalem, Palestine and again from Beirut Lebanon. I know the trauma of leave your home, belongings and all to start anew.

Bio: I was born in Jerusalem Palestine of Armenian parents. I attended Anglican mission schools in Jerusalem and Beirut where I received teacher training diploma. BA in Biology and Masters from Emory U in Plant Ecology. Started painting after 3rd child was born. Attended Museum of Modern Art painting summer school on a barge in Long Island. Also at Art Students League, NYC. There Studied with Robert and Nathan Hale and Marshall Glacier. Continued painting for 33 years at Stacy Studio Workshop in NYC. Have had one person and group exhibitions and 9 commissions.
