ECVA chapters create local communities for artists to meet one another and discuss their work. The image above represents the compelling art of Jack Moody, a charter member of the ECVA NYC chapter. ECVA Chapter members are from all areas of the art and church worlds, and include clergy, professional artists, liturgists, art historians and parish program coordinators. ECVA Chapters currently meet in New York City, Boston, North Shore-Boston, Philadelphia, Austin, San Francisco, and the Diocese of New Jersey.

The founding vision for ECVA comes from Mrs. Phoebe Griswold and Presiding Bishop Frank Griswold, who together with the Rev. Gurdon Brewster formed the early work in 2000. ECVA's primary goal has clarified into an intentional encouragement of the visual arts in the church by supporting our members through sharing their work, connecting artists with patrons, connecting congregations with liturgical arts and artists, and building an intuitive cross-pollinated network so that all can find one another.

Institutionally, ECVA is a full partner with the mission community of the Episcopal Church. ECVA seeks to reach out and invite participation from those who are not yet engaging with the ECVA community. Our diversification initiatives challenge
