Artist Statement:
“…that our sinful bodies may be made clean by His body, and our souls washed through His most precious blood…”
(1928 prayer book) “So it is that art (and the arts) are servants in the human quest for engagement with the divine.”
In preparation for this Spring Exhibition, I consulted with my Pastor, The Rev. Scott T. Holcombe. He shared with me what he sees each time he consecrates the Holy Eucharist — himself and then also a person receiving the Holy Sacrament being washed in the Sacramental wine through the convex reflection in the Chalice. This painting is a gift to Fr. Scott Holcombe.
Bio: Jeanne Harris Weaver, a two-dimensional artist, paints primarily in oils at her condo on the ocean in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Of her vocation, Jeanne says "Painting is the recording of the world, its environment and humanity through my eyes, my senses, my spirit. When that expression touches another’s soul, the worth is great."
Also, the author of Losing Todd: A Mother’s Journey published by the Muscarelle Museum of Art, Jeanne was awarded an honorary degree in 2017 from The College of William & Mary for her book and paintings honoring the life of 1LT Todd William Weaver, killed in action in Afghanistan on September 9, 2010.
Jeanne’s work is a reflection of God’s presence in her life. She hopes others can sense His presence in her works.
