I in Them, and Thou in Me Self-portrait, Photograph |
Artist Statement: It is difficult to see ourselves as a visual reflection of the divine. By dressing in a Bedouin veil, I challenged myself to see myself also in the face of the other. As it says in 1 John 3:2, "it does not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he appears we shall be like him." Bio: In my vocation as priest and as artist, I endeavor to evoke the holy. I use visual art, writing, meditation, and other devotional practices to invite others to awaken to the mystery of love at the heart of the universe, risk sacred encounter, and cross the threshold of their heart's deepest hopes. |
