Tranquility

Artist Statement: On a summer visit to a local lily pond, I experienced this tranquil setting—an oil droplet on the water stream revealed a dove-shaped form. As I experienced this image, I found this symbolic imagery:
   The oil droplet dove has become the Holy Spirit moving across the stream of water, the people of the world.
   The green lily pads are those souls seeking new birth through Jesus the "Living Word".
   The vibrant lily flowers become those Christians who have matured in the faith, and then go forth to proclaim the "Good News" to all searching soul's prepared to receive God's love and reconciliation.

Bio: Gary Gorby has been an educator for over four decades. With students from high school through university, he has used photography as a tool to help them experience the wonders of God's creation. Gary has earned degrees in natural science from Bethany College(WV), West Virginia University, and Vanderbilt University. He gives seminars and retreats to church and civic groups on meditation and stress management using photography and the Psalms.
