Artist Statement: During the pandemic, working in photoshop held no appeal for me. Any artwork I did was mainly collage; there was something comforting about wielding scissors and gluesticks instead of a cursor. Once we were all vaccinated and there seemed like light might be at the end of this particular tunnel, I found an old project I had abandoned a few years ago. Creating images to represent the twelve zodiac signs was a fun way to dive back into the intense layering process of making a digital design in photoshop. Bio: Sr. Claire Joy is a member of the Community of the Holy Spirit, a religious order for women in the Episcopal Church. Before joining the Community, she worked as an artist and graphic designer for magazines, television and audio-visual productions. She also taught Computer Graphics as an adjunct professor at the Florida Community College in Jacksonville. Her current responsibilities for the Community include shopping, cooking, designing the annual Christmas card and other publications as needed. Her outside ministries involve spiritual direction, retreat leadership and a chaplaincy for Episcopal Relief & Development. |
