Alpha and Omega

Artist Statement: In processing the many challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, I became aware that my sense of security (i.e., "shelter") was linked to my understanding of the enduring covenant of God with humankind. Even (or especially) in that time and season, I clung to the faithfulness of the Alpha and Omega' compassion, love, and tender mercy.

The background texture of this digital collage (printed onto brushed aluminum) is the text of the hymn, "Love Divine, All Loves Excelling." the biblical focus, which is placed in a circle that speaks to the wholeness that is found in God's love, is Revelation 21:6.

Bio: After a two-decade art practice focused on the creation of commissioned liturgical art for churches and church agencies, I now devote my energies to developing digitally designed liturgical resources for congregational use. You may learn more about my work at www.lindahenke.com.

Early in the COVID-19 pandemic, I participated in an online study of the biblical Book of Lamentations led by my associate rector, and experience that inspired creation of a collection of ten digital collages for printing onto brushed aluminum. This submission is from that collection.
