From the
Office of Morning Prayer: I was glad
when they said unto me, "We will go into
the house of the Lord." Psalm 122:1; "O
send out thy light and thy truth, that
they may lead me, and bring me unto thy
holy hill, and to thy dwelling." Psalm
43:3 This painting is my interpretation
of a photo I took in the doorway of
Saint Paul's Anglican Church in San
Miguel de Allende, Mexico, last summer.
I found a great deal of peace in that worship space.
My main interest is surface design on
fabric. I am a batik and rozome artist
as well as silk painter, quilter, and
dyer. I create wall pieces and
some wearables. I have also done
ecclesiastical pieces. I work with
Procion MX, H, and acid dyes as well as
Createx pigments. I also incorporate
machine embroidery and beading into some
of my pieces. My inspiration usually
begins with a photo I have taken. I work in colored pencil
and oil paints as well.
