Reflections on the Water Oil on canvas 18" x 24" |
Artist Statement: Time and time again I have tried to paint the river where we scattered my husband’s ashes. I was never happy with anything I tried to paint. Then, I began composing this painting, placing the colors where I wanted them in the composition. It was then I realized that what I was trying to paint---new life reflecting from the ever-flowing river. As the river eternally flows along, shadows of the past and hope of new life reflects in the river itself. Bio: Joy Jennings is an oil painter who is represented by several galleries in Mississippi and Louisiana. As a former dancer, she writes “I am very aware of line, movement, and color as I work, as if I am creating and choreographing a dance on canvas.” She enjoys promoting the arts through workshops and community involvement and enjoys teaching workshops on art and spirituality. She currently serves as a member of ECVA’s Board of Directors. |
