Artist Statement: Located in the southeastern corner of Louisiana, Honey Island Swamp is a remote and hidden part of the beautiful Louisiana landscape. Stories abound concerning the mystery of the swamp, and once you are deep inside the swampland, you recognize the eternal presence of the land. You are one among many of all the creatures there. There is a still quietness among the deep shadows of the swamp. Time stands still and the mystery of the swamp lingers around you. Bio: Joy Jennings is an oil painter who is represented by several galleries in Mississippi and Louisiana. As a former dancer, she writes “I am very aware of line, movement, and color as I work, as if I am creating and choreographing a dance on canvas.” She enjoys promoting the arts through workshops and community involvement and enjoys teaching workshops on art and spirituality. She currently serves as a member of ECVA’s Board of Directors. |
