Praying

Statement:
For a series I am making on the subject Contact, I made
this painting, a close-up of a woman praying near the Wailing
Wall in Israel. Her head is bowed, her hand is spread out on
the Wall. The intimacy of this picture signifies to me the
personal side of praying on the one hand, and the holiness of
our Lord on the other hand.
Bio:
I was born in 1974, living in the Netherlands as an
independent artist for five years now. I attended the Gooise
Academy of Arts for two and one-half years, and participated
in a group exhibition in the Singer Museum in Laren. My
inspiration comes from my faith, nature and people. It is an
ongoing search for me how to combine my faith and my art in my
paintings. |
